JBenchmark 2.0, the performance metric for second-generation mobile Java devices released

The latest version of the industry-standard JBenchmark that measures and compares Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) compatible mobile devices was released today. JBenchmark 2.0 tests the graphical performance of devices compliant with the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) version 2.0, such as cellular phones, two-way pagers, and communicators.

(PRWEB) February 25, 2004 --JBenchmark 2.0 gives an overall performance score for tested devices by calculating the geometric average of the results of the following five sub-tests:
Image manipulation (RGB data manipulation and drawing)
Text drawing
Gaming scene (Sprites and Layers)
3D transformation (Shaded 3D polygons)
User interface speed (Business applications)

JBenchmark 2.0 not just measures, but -- like its predecessor - lets users independently upload their results to www.jbenchmark.com. Currently this is the largest open mobile java performance database on the Internet with more than 120 tested devices and nearly 3000 results.

JBenchmark 2.0 Software and Hardware Requirements:
J2ME, Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) 2.0 compatibility
At least 160 KByte free memory (free heap memory, dependent on implementation)
Ability to download and install 64 KByte Java midlets (jar size)

JBenchmark 2.0 is freely downloadable from www.jbenchmark.com.

JBenchmark 2.0 was developed by Kishonti LP with the help of JBenchmark 2.0 Beta Program Members:
ATI Technologies Inc.
