Critically acclaimed indie band Ware River Club releases Cathedral on March 9
(PRWEB) February 26, 2004 --Critically acclaimed indie band Ware River Club, whose previous releases Don’t Take It Easy and The Bad Side of Otis Ave., garnered the Northampton, Massachusetts-based quintet a national and international following, will release Cathedral, March 9 on SpiritHouse Records. Cathedral is a record of haggard beauty. The twelve tracks speak of the resilience of the human condition with a keen eye for detail and a master storyteller’s precision. It is the story behind highly prolific frontman, Matt Hebert, the undeniable voice, rhythm and pulse of the band. Hebert, who is known to write one new song per day, will be featured in Bilboard (February 28 edition), Associated Press (March 9 wire story) and No Depression (March/April). His highly poetic style of songwriting continues to receive accolades. The Charlotte Observer states: “Like All the greats, Hebert seems to have mastered the art of nuance.” Creative Loafing praises Hebert’s songs as the “aural equivalence of Raymond Carver.” This is quite fitting, in that the title of Cathedral is directly borrowed from a collection of short stories by Raymond Carver, a major influence on Hebert ‘s lyrical style.
The first two Ware River Club releases put the band on the map. The hard-touring band received much-deserved acclaim for their songwriting, earning them comparisons to such artists as Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, The Jayhawks and The Wallflowers. The group, which also includes Matt Cullen, Bobby Hennessey, Don McAulay and Scott Helland, have also made numerous critics Top 10 lists, in addition to being invited to tour with many highly respected national acts including Emmylou Harris, The Jayhawks, Twinemen (formerly Morphine),and the legendary NRBQ. The Ware River Club, which formed in 1998 from the remnants of several other highly acclaimed New England bands, will be featured on the forthcoming NRBQ tribute CD, The Q People, with the beautifully delivered,“I Love Her, She Loves Me.”
Hebert grew up in Ware, a forgotten mill town in the hills of Massachusetts. In a land of impossibility, Hebert found fertile grounds for his creativity and insight. With Cathedral, Hebert and Ware River Club deliver a record of great depth and lyrical beauty that is a testament to the sad and pretty subtlety of everyday life.
