A labor of Love

Debbie Fancher releases debut CD "Only Human" in Christian genre..

(PRWEB) February 26, 2004 --It took Debbie Fancher two long years, but shes thrilled to announce the release of her first CD Only Human" featuring 10 contemporary Christian and inspiration songs. The Fort Bend County resident drove to Dallas once a month to write, rehearse and record her music.

Its a labor love," says the perky singer. I wrote the lyrics for seven of the songs and then collaborated on the music. The other three songs are copywrited." In recognition of her heritage, Debbie sings one song in Spanish and another features bilingual lyrics.

Debbie was born in Venezuela where she spent her first 10 years before coming to the States with her mother who is from the Rio Grande Valley. I was such a ham when I was a kid," she laughingly admits! In fact, I dont remember a time I wasnt singing."

The mini-songbird appeared for three years on a weekly television variety show in Caracas. I was four years old and telling my mother I wanted to be on the show. She took me to auditions, and the next thing I know Im a part of the show. It was the equivalent of The Lawrence Welk Show---only ours was for kids and teens. Believe it or not, the show is still a weekly feature on Venezuelan television!"

Debbies love of music helped her bridge the transition from South America to south Texas. I was singing at weddings by the time I was 11, participating in school choirs and musicals and singing with a jazz band in high school. I also sang some jingles for radio commercials in the Valley."

Her voice took a hiatus when she left for college. It wasnt until I started attending Parkway United Methodist Church in New Territory that I resumed my singing career seven years ago. I helped start the worship team when we were still meeting in a grade school. One thing led to another, and with lots of encouragement I launched my CD project." Debbie admits now she didnt know what she was getting into. It was very stressful and joyful at the same time, not to mention the monthly drives to Dallas where my friends had a small home recording studio."

Debbie credits her involvement at Parkway with bringing so much more joy in singing to the Lord than at any other time in my life. As I drove to Dallas, I was praying am I doing the right thing? Every trip a song would come out of the drive. God was giving me the words to write these songs so I could share them."

Fort Bend residents may have heard Debbie singing the Star Spangled Banner at the county rodeo the past two years. She also sang the national anthem at the last Memorial Day community celebration held at Oyster Creek Park.

My CD has been gaining increased exposure since my December release concert. I also went back to my Texas roots and gave a concert in Harlingen at our old Methodist Church." Debbie is scheduled to appear at the Yale Street Coffee House in the Heights on March 5 and also recently appeared on KKHT AM 1070 The Words talk show.

Debbie and her husband, Karl, have two children, Justin, 8, and Julienna, 3. Music has always played a big role in my life, and I love singing with my kids at home. Releasing this CD is unbelievable. I have so many people to thank for helping me accomplish it. I just cant express my appreciation enough to this wonderful community for its great support."
