KUA Launches Telephone Service; Signs First Customer

KUA, in partnership with Sparks Communications of New Smyrna Beach, offers affordable, flat rate calling plans to residential and small business customers in Central Florida.

KISSIMMEE, FL (PRWEB) February 27, 2004 --- Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) on Tuesday began offering local and long distance telephone services to the residents of Orange, Osceola and Polk counties. Kissimmee City Commissioner Steve Burke visited KUA on Tuesday and signed on as the utility's first residential telephone customer.

KUA, in partnership with Sparks Communications of New Smyrna Beach, offers affordable, flat rate calling plans to residential and small business customers. Residential calling plans range from $24.95 - $58.95 per month and include local and long distance calling as well as popular features like call waiting, call forwarding, call block, speed dialing and voice mail.

"KUA's market acceptance has dramatically exceeded our expectations," said Jef Gray, vice president of information technology for KUA. "Well over 500 individuals have already registered to be among the first to enjoy our new, lower cost phone service alternative."

KUA's board of directors approved in December the utility's offering of telecommunications services in Central Florida.

Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water, and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
