KUA Board Approves $2M Contract for Substation Design

KISSIMMEE, FL (PRWEB) February 29, 2004 --The Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) board of directors on Wednesday approved a $2 million engineering services contract with Black & Veatch for the design of a new electric substation in Kissimmee.
The substation will significantly increase service reliability for utility customers living in communities along Pleasant Hill Road.
The contract includes conceptual design services, topographical service work, soil investigation and analysis, detailed design and procurement for the 69/13.2 kV substation. The $18 million substation project also includes construction of a 69 kV transmission line that will tie the new substation to KUA's Roy E. Hansel power plant and the utility's Clay Street substation.
Construction on the substation will begin in late 2004 with an expected in-service date of October 1, 2005.
Founded in 1901, KUA is Florida's sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric, water, and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
