Shockers Head to Kansas City for Post Season

The WSU Shocker bowling teams are heading to Kansas City for the Intercollegiate Bowling Championship Sectional Qualifiers. 64 menÂ?s and 64 womenÂ?s teams earned the right to compete at the Qualifiers, to be held in four locations across the country.

The Shocker men's and women's teams will compete in Blue Springs, Mo. at the Intercollegiate Bowling Championship Sectional Qualifiers. The Qualifiers will take place March 20-21, 2004.

The top 64 men’s and 64 women’s teams earned the right to compete at the Sectional Qualifiers, to be held in four locations across the country. The assignments are based on the Team Ranking System points earned in CBUSA sanctioned competition throughout the season. The top four finishers at each of the Qualifier events will then advance to the 2004 Intercollegiate Bowling Championships in Tulsa, Okla. April 14-18, 2004.

At the Blue Springs Qualifier, there are 17 men's and women's teams competing out of the top 64 nationally ranked teams.

Four of the top 16 nationally ranked teams are sent to each Sectional in an effort to balance the field of strength. At Blue Springs on the men's side, WSU is nationally ranked No. 2, followed by Western Illinois University No. 5, San Jose State University No. 11 and Nebraska/University of Lincoln No. 12.

The women's field features WSU ranked No. 1, followed by Western Illinois University No. 5, McKendree College No. 10 and Newman University No. 13.
