Respondents were from five different industries, who described their workplace as pleasant places to work and whose employers rated them as highly productive. The industries surveyed were hospitality, education, human resources, finances and technology.

The suggestions for managers and leaders were:

2.   Be fair.
3.   Incorporate teambuilding activities in the workplace.
4.   Get to know each of your employees.
5.   Ask for input from all levels.
6.   Be consistent.
   
Research in employee engagement has proved that productivity increases when employees are engaged. Employee engagement is the degree of employees' emotional and intellectual involvement in their employer. It is more than satisfaction or commitment, but how much the employee wants to and actually does contribute to corporate results.
