Amy Fairchild Wins Grand Prize in John Lennon Songwriting Contest for Second Straight Year
Amy Fairchild's song "Renee" from her critically acclaimed CD, Mr. Heart (produced by Adam Steinberg) has won the Grand Prize in the coveted Pop Category of the 2003 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
(PRWEB) March 1, 2004 -- Amy Fairchild's song "Renee" from her critically acclaimed CD, Mr. Heart (produced by Adam Steinberg) has won the Grand Prize in the coveted Pop Category of the 2003 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Last year, her song Falling Down" also from Mr. Heart not only won the Pop Category but also went on to win the overall Maxell Song of the Year, and $20,000.00. This marks the first time an artist has won a Grand Prize 2 years in a row. The prize includes $2000.00 in cash, a $5000.00 Advance on an EMI Publishing deal, $5000.00 worth of Yamaha studio equipment and a CD duplication package from DiscMakers. Musicians performing on the track include producer Adam Steinberg on electric guitars and bass and Gary Burke (Joe Jackson, Bob Dylan) on drums.
The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is an international songwriting contest that began in 1997. The Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters who submit entries in any one of 12 musical categories, and receives over 20,000 entries every year. Amy's song is again eligible for the Maxell Song of The Year Prize ($20,000.00 cash), which is chosen from the top 12 grand prize winners later this spring. Amy re-located to Boston, MA in 2002 after spending 5 years in NYC. She was nominated for 2 Boston Music Awards in 2003, Best Female Singer/Songwriter and Best Female Vocalist. Other awards of note include Grand Prize in the Billboard Songwriting Contest, Country/Folk Category for Tuesday", also from Mr. Heart and Winner of the 2001 Kerrville (TX) New Folk Competition. She was also winner of the NYC Lilith Fair Talent Search in 1999, earning her an opening slot on that tours stop at Jones Beach. TV placements from Mr. Heart include Beautiful Secret, used in the first season of Joan of Arcadia (and in the stage production Spiderman Live) and Humble Pie, used in the 5th season of Dawsons Creek.
