Site profiles faculty and administration, Rabbinical, Cantorial and Chaplaincy programs

Academy president, Rabbi Stephen Robbins, says "As our reputation and visibility have grown over the past few years, we have been asked by many interested parties to put information about our programs, faculty, and school in general, online. With the launching of our website, we are pleased to be able to meet those requests."

The web site highlights the Academys unique mission, distinguished faculty and administration, accomplished student body and innovative course offerings.

The Academy for Jewish Religion, California was founded in the year 2000, by Los Angeles-based rabbis who believed that there was an urgent need to revitalize Judaism and make it a profound experience. Our innovative approach of training rabbis and cantors to serve all movements of Judaism, including Reform, Reconstructionist, Renewal, Conservative, and Orthodox, has attracted an illustrious, committed and passionate faculty of congregational clergy and scholars.

In addition to our Rabbinical and Cantorial Schools, we have established a Jewish Chaplaincy Program, whose graduates will provide a vital and much-needed Jewish presence at various communal institutions. Our student body has more than tripled since our inception, and, as of Winter 2004, we have enrolled a total of 55 students. Our students include physicians, lawyers, professors, educators, psychologists, and other highly accomplished professionals.
