When The Companies That Report Mergers and Acquisitions Transactions Become Acquisition Targets Themselves.
Financial Information Companies Increasingly Becoming Takeover and Acquisition Targets; The Deal, Capital IQ, Factset, Merger Research: Attractive Potential Targets
(PRWEB) March 2, 2004 --Investors and acquirers are reacting to the recent spike in mergers and acquisitions activity by focusing on cash flow. Financial information companies, which tend to be cash rich and which offer information on among other things, mergers and acquisitions activity are themselves being seen as lucrative and important targets by larger business information companies. MergerStat was recently acquired by Factset and companies like Factset itself and Capital IQ could be next on the block. It has been reported that recently formed Merger Research, an innovative financial publications firm started by former Goldman Sachs investment banker, Steven Ogunro, has already been courted by several financial and publications firms seeking to acquire it.
Cash flow seems to be the "Crown Jewels" in a wave of acquisitions that might even see ownership of The Financial Journal change hands over the coming months.
