Daryl Hayott and International music .

This Fusion Bassist, recognizes the value of the personal touch in business.

(PRWEB) March 2, 2004 -- We are Speaking to Daryl Hayott. Already know for his speed and tone on the bass guitar, now wants to be known for his good business sense. Serving as point man for his current CD project "Equanimity" at a current ASCAP funtion in Atlanta. Daryl says that he loves dealing with the smaller music companies, when it comes to equipment purchases for his rather large bass arsenal.

"Man there are so many signature bass vendors out there in the market. If you want quality service it's almost like making dinner reservations. It's their people who will meet my people and have a meeting for god's sake(laughing). I've had equipment shipped to me as far away as Belgium. However, I've been fortunate enough to have found someone that gives me what I need without all of the promotion and plastic.

A friend from a small growing company called International Music, His name is Sy. He will always get me the equipment I need without delays or pressure. This company has been helping our label for years. The special thing is that they actually have an interest in what you want as opposed to who you are. The personal touch is dying in this business. It shouldn't be that way at all.

With this world of constant tension, younger and older folks are looking towards the arts as a form of healing. What better way to heal ourselves than through creativity. If a person wants to play an instrument these days, he doesn't know the language, the lay person may feel that their dreams are out of reach. When I'm at functions like this one, I remember that my inspiration comes from plain folks who acknowledged my interest in music. My first bass guitar was purchased at a pawnshop. As did Jaco's and many, many others who have made it.

When something went wrong with the instrument the pawnshop guy was the person to see. Layaway policies was the saving grace for many poor cats in my community. I truly believe that we have gotten too self important lately in the entertainment arena. Sy is truly a proven businessman and i consider him a close friend. A relief. As opposed to some suit, fronting for some industry factory. I believe that the smaller more personal vendors are going to knock these overpriced franchises out of the box.

They really should. My advice to the cats who are just getting started is to go to the smaller stores. You'll get much further." Daryl then starts a solo on a 67' bass he's had for 11 years. His way of giving the personal touch to the audience.
