Christian Author embraced by Detroit at Community College and hosts publishing panel with authors and editors

Author to launch her new book and host a publishing panel at Wayne County Community College

Detroit, MI (PRWEB) March 4, 2004 -- WCCCD hosts Its Not About You book launch and inspirational publishing panel discussion. There has been a great deal of talk about the 1980s being the me" generation, but with the advent of reality television, that generation seems to continue today. In her new book, Its Not About You-Its About God, Rebecca F. Osaigbovo challenges the focus on self and dares the reader to consider God.

Ive written this book to encourage African American women to think differently about life and move from a self-centered perspective (Whats in this for me?) to one that has to do with getting to know God and being known by Him-essentially getting close enough to be friends and co-partners," says Osaigbovo, (pronounced O sigh bo vo). You can hear more about the book and learn about writing and publishing books for the inspirational market during the Its Not About You book launch and publishing panel discussion on Friday, March 12, 2004, from 5:30-8 p.m. The book party, sponsored by Chosen Vessels Ministries (CVM), will be at the Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD) Downtown Campus, 1001 W. Fort, Detroit. WCCCD is a co-sponsor for the event.

WCCCD Downtown Campus President Jacqueline Hodges, Ed.D., says the campus wanted to partner with CVM because the colleges student writers can benefit from hearing from and meeting those in the inspirational publishing industry. She also believes the event is a worthwhile community outreach effort.

Osaigbovo will discuss the genesis of Its Not About You and discuss other aspects of the book, including the myth of the Christian Strong Black Woman and her theory on Adam (a.k.a. men) not necessarily being slothful but asleep. Readers also will give the audience feedback about the book, which will be available for purchase and Osaigbovo will sign. RSVP online at cvmi.org to receive a 10 percent discount coupon for the book. The event itself is free and open to the public.

Panelists include Cindy Bunch, senior editor at InterVarsity Press; Sabrina Black, author of Can Two Walk Together? and co-author of Help for Your Leadership and Prone to Wander; Diane Reeder, an editor and author of A Diary of Joseph; Christina Dixon, author of How to Respect an Irresponsible Man and co-author of Help For Your Leadership; Paris Finner-Williams, co-author of Marital Secrets: Dating Lies, Communication and Sex; Dennis Talbert, a journalist and marketing professional; and Rebecca Osaigbovo, also author of the self-published books Chosen Vessels and Movin on Up. Glenn Plummer of Christian Television Network will moderate the panel discussion.

InterVarsity Press, one of the event co-sponsors, is the publisher of Osaigbovos latest book. Other co-sponsors include Christian Television Network; American Christian Writers-Detroit Chapter; Faith at Works; Friendship Productions, Inc.; Nissi Systems, LLC; Globe Bible Bookstore; PriorityOne Publications; Paris M. Finner-Williams, Esq., P.C.; Sistas Movement; Finner Williams & Associates; McAdoo Dental Services; Eldridge Gathering; www.DetroitCityEntertainment.com; Legacy Appraisal Services; and United Conference for Women.
