Powerful New Bundled Software Enhances AudioVox Wireless Modem

On its own, the AudioVox RTM-8000 GSM/GPRS CF card enables GSM subscribers globally to instantly convert a handheld Pocket PC or PDA into a wireless communications device that offers enhanced voice communications and high-speed, GPRS data transmission. But the RTM-8000 does not, on its own, properly support Windows Mobile 2003.

Until now. By combining the power of the RTM-8000 with BVRPs PocketPhone Tools a Pocket PC with Windows Mobile 2003 can surf the Internet, send and receive E-mails and Short Message Service (SMS), send and receive faxes and make and receive telephone calls. Moreover, the RTM-8000 enables users to accomplish these functions at data speeds as high as 57.6 Kbps.

Powerful, Convenient Hardware
The AudioVox RTM-8000 is a tri-band (EGSM 900/ DCS 1800/ PCS 1900) GSM/GPRS compactflash card modem the size of a credit card that slips easily and conveniently into a Pocket PCs standard CF card slot. Once inserted, the RTM-8000 turns a standard Pocket PC or PDA into a wireless device with telephone capabilities. The CF card is also equipped with a 2.5-mm earjack that can be used with the included hands-free headset that enables the user to dial up and make telephone calls.

Powerful Communications Software
Combining the power of the RTM-8000 with the unique software capabilities of BVRPs PocketPhone Tools pumps up the capabilities of the system dramatically. PocketPhone Tools now allows the RTM-8000 to work with Microsofts Pocket PC 2003 operating system (as well as Pocket PC 2002), allowing the AudioVox CF card to be used with the latest generation of Pocket PC devices.

Once installed in a Pocket PC handheld, PocketPhone Tools allows a user to create and send fax and SMS messages, make a voice phone call using the handy Dialer application, and create, receive and send email using the Inbox and Outbox tools. All of these capabilities are available in one pocket-sized package that is 100% mobile.

The PocketPhone Tools screen interface is well-designed and very easy to navigate. Users need only point and click with a stylus or finger to launch any action. To make things even easier, a series of fast access" icons located at the bottom of each screen provide instant access to fax and SMS (both send and receive), multiple phonebooks, the dialer and remote networking controls.    By clicking the keypad icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the screen a user has instant access to a handy numeric keypad, which speeds up numeric data entry.
