NC Real Estate Firm Rated Number 1 in 2003 in Burke County

Perry Properties, celebrating it's six year anniversary, was rated number one in Burke County sales, according to the county's MLS.

MORGANTON, NC (PRWEB) March 4, 2004 -- Perry Properties ranked number one in 2003 sales. Firms Business Tripled Since Founding Six Years Ago.As it marks its six-year anniversary, Perry Properties of Morganton is also celebrating its Number One ranking in residential sales for 2003 as recorded by the industrys Burke County Multiple Listing Services (MLS).

Of the 24 firms listed in Burke Countys 2003 MLS market share report -- and these include all local major residential real estate brokerages -- Perry Properties ranked first in both dollar volume and units sold for transactions conducted in 2003, according to the report.

Further, the report indicated that Perry Properties accounted for nearly one out of every four residential transactions during 2003, and nearly 30% of the $56.3 million in residential sales generated by MLS members.

The MLS is the combined database of active real estate listings and transactions from member brokers. There are MLSs for most counties across the country. Property buyers and sellers frequently use the service as a resource. Sales records are available to member agencies.

Perry Properties growth represents a three-fold increase in the business since March 1998 when Debbe and Andy Perry formed it through the acquisition of Bell Properties from Rudy Bell, who remains as an agent with Perry Properties.

The Perrys were selling residential real estate for another Burke County agency beforehand.

As Rudy reached the age of 65, he wanted to shift his emphasis from running the business to real estate sales," Andy said. He approached us, we talked and compared visions and principles, and the rest is history."

The Perrys moved to Burke County in 1993 from southern Florida where they held high-profile executive jobs. Debbe was Vice Provost with the University of Miami, and Andy was Sr. Vice President of Norwegian Cruise Lines. Their decision to move to Burke County was driven in part by the devastating effects of Hurricane Andrew and a desire to abandon the high-paced lifestyle.

They said that there are three fundamental factors that contribute to their sustained success: Customer relationships and service; word-of-mouth advertisement, and personal community involvement.

The Perrys have remained engaged in community organizations. Andy or Debbe have served as president of Burke Countys Chamber of Commerce, Good Samaritan Clinic, United Way, Board of Realtors and as board members of the countys Library, Burke Charitable Properties, Red Cross, and other organizations.

They have been very involved with the community, especially Debbe," said Marc Parham, president of the Burke County MLS. She has been very active in bringing people to Burke County, especially retired people."

The things you get involved with make a difference," Debbe said. We have been very involved with the community, and thats key. We do more than just sell real estate. We sell Burke County."

Perry Properties has one full-time office manager and eight full time REALTORS, one more than when the Perrys acquired the business. Collectively this group represents 119 years of real estate experience.

The Perry team includes office manager Kelly Russell, and agents Laura McCoy, Shannon Hurt, Rudy Bell, Evelyn Keever, Richard Roper and Nancy Roper. Four Perry staff have served as president of the Burke County Board of REALTORS; Bell, Nancy Roper, Debbe Perry and Keever.

We would not have obtained this level of success without a strong team that shares the same vision, goals and commitment to the community," Andy Perry said.

Our three-fold increase hasnt been the result of tripling the size of our sales force," he said. Its the result of knowing the community, knowing the needs of the customer, finding the proper fit and establishing long-term relationships. Its the fact that we go out of our way to make the customer satisfied."

Ruth and Tom Mennitt purchased a house from Perry Properties when they were moved from Florida to Morganton in early 2002. They initially contacted Debbe Perry through email.

We gave her a long list of things we wanted and things we did not want," Ruth said. We came up a few days later and she spent a day and a half with us. Every house she showed us fit our criteria very well. She didnt waste any of our time."

Our increase is not only because we sell more properties," Debbe said. Our increase is a result of the way we treat our customers and the resulting positive word of mouth is the best advantage you have, especially in a small community."

We get a lot of repeat business," she said, because we provide quality products, attention to detail and exceptionally good customer service. We have made a lot of friends among our customers."

One repeat customer is Michael and Melissa Streppa, who credit the Perrys get-it-done attitude for their continued business. In March 1999 the Perrys sold the Streppas their first home.

We bought our first home and four years later sold that and bought another through them," Melissa said. They have that 'above and beyond attitude. They are very flexible and are big advocates for what you want. They really get to know you and they remember. We came back to them because we knew they knew us."

And then they celebrate the sale with you," Melissa said. Its not sell and buy and say good bye. They were great."

Andy gives a large amount of credit for Perry Properties six years of steady growth to the community. Thats who we owe it to," Andy said, our customers and people of Burke County. Theyre the true source of our success and reputation. They are the ones we thank."

Said Debbe Perry: Its not just a business for us. Its not just selling a house. Its adopting a family. Its a calling."
