EATS!" is Chewy Satire With Teeth

Wacky Daily Email/Art Lampoons Culture Through Food Packaging

(PRWEB) March 5, 2004 -- Marie Callender, Healthy Choice, and Wolfgang Puck, beware! What began as one mans office joke has become a growing Internet comedy cult craze.

EATS!" is a series of provocative visual jokes, built around the labeling on pre-packaged foods. Each day, every Monday through Friday, a new EATS!" is sent out free to hundreds of email subscribers, and then forwarded to thousands more, all over the world.

With titles like Defeatloaf (With Mashed Hopes and Dreams)", Chunky Chicken in Gym Class", and Creamy Mushroom Cloud Farewell", much of the humor is dark yet strangely cheerful. There are shades of Gary Larsons The Far Side" in its wit, although with a more disturbing edge.

Thats because EATS!" is the brainchild of John Skipp, a bestselling horror novelist-turned-social satirist. In the 80s, his books THE LIGHT AT THE END and THE SCREAM (co-written with Craig Spector) sold millions of copies worldwide.

EATS!" is a popular feature of www.johnskipp.com (where Skipp also promotes his new book, CONSCIENCE, and has a daily column called THE HARD WAY). When I had to work a day job," Skipp says, I made 'EATS! as a way to entertain the troops. Now Im trying to spread the deliciousness to every office on Earth."

And lest you think that EATS!" is an attack on pre-fab foods, Skipp shakes his head. I ate every meal that I played with," he insists. I only made jokes out of food that I liked."
