Rapid Weather seeks to attract high-energy people for high salary positions
The Rapid City, South Dakota company is offering high paying jobs to meteorologists who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit. Each prospective employee is expected to sell Rapid Weather's service so they can develop a relationship with clients.
(PRWEB) March 5, 2004 -- At a time when college graduates are looking for a decent salary or any job at all, Rapid Weather is offering a guarantee of a good job with excellent pay. Rapid Weather, a commercial weather service based in Rapid City, South Dakota is looking for meteorologists with an entrepreneurial spirit. The catch is that prospective employees must sell Rapid Weather's service to at least 100 customers before they receive an offer for a fulltime position.
"We're looking for people who really want a good salary, who care about the customer and the product," say's Rapid Weather owner, Chris Orr. "I need people who are motivated and when a person demonstrates the kind of drive we're asking for, I am certainly going to hire them and pay them well."
According to Rapid Weather's web site at www.rapidwx.com, all a meteorologist has to do is send the company its resume. In return, the company sends the applicant a confidentiality agreement and all the information he or she needs to sell Rapid Weather's products. The company pays a commission on all sales and as soon as a meteorologist signs up 100 accounts, he or she is offered a fulltime salary position with the company.
According to Orr, the job market for high paying meteorology jobs is poor. "This is a way we can create jobs that pay $40,000 a year or more, which is a good salary for meteorologists. Most entry-level meteorology positions pay $20,000 to $25,000. But motivation is the key," says Orr. "If someone wants high pay and is willing to put out some effort, I will create the job, even in this tight job market."
Any meteorologist can apply for positions at Rapid Weather. All applicants must sell its forecast services prior to joining the company as an employee. Each signs confidentiality agreements, then they work from their current home. They sell Rapid Weather's service to construction companies, city and county governments, individuals, stores, golf courses -- any outdoor activity affected by the weather. They receive a $50 commission each month for each customer, which, by the time they hire on as a meteorologist, reaches $60,000 a year. The pay drops to $40,000 when they become company meteorologists because of the additional costs associated with employees, such as insurance and taxes. The meteorologists move to Rapid City when they are offered a permanent salaried position.
Orr, who is a Certified Consulting Meteorologist, believes that this is the best way he can hire individuals who will build and sustain the company.
