Crooner, Mark Mahar and his trio EXTENDED at The Rat Pack Cafe
Jazz Crooner, Mark Mahar has extended his ten week agreement for performance at The Rat Pack Cafe in Framingham, MA. Mark is joined every Sunday night with his trio (piano, bass, drums).
(PRWEB) March 7, 2004 --Boston's 29 year-old crooner recently left Lucky's Lounge in Boston where he was host of "Sinatra Sundays with the Al Vega Trio".
The patrons at The Rat Pack Cafe have responded with a great showing in attendance to the new show, featuring Mr. Mahar's trio every Sunday.
In an interview with Mr. Mahar, he told us why the Rat Pack Cafe is home:
"I've mentioned before how pleased I am with the fit we have found with The Rat Pack Cafe and their management. This new format has evolved into a unique and 'must-see' show. Admittedly, it sweetens the pot. Connecting with our market requires that we do some club dates like this one, but we have found it to be more fun than a necessity. I don't know how many performers can say that.
" We generally do a first set that is 'concert' style with some requests, and then as the evening gets on the shape changes to take on a sort of 'livingroom' feel. We get to interact with the audience, get challenged by requests and take more risks as musicians...it is rare as a musician when I feel as willing to be, I don't know- vulnerable I guess. It is very intimate and the whole band enjoys the connection we have with our audience there.
"It may have to do with the intimacy of the room, the band, the demographic or the location. Sometimes you can't put your finger on what makes a night hip, but when you get it right in this business you don't ask why...you just keep doing it. My idols are on the wall, I'm behind the mic, and I work with my friends (who happen to be extremely competent musicians). I'm extremely happy about that. The fact that other performers have made us their landing ground for Sunday nights is also pretty flattering.
Mark Mahar and his trio are extended every Sunday through June 6th (Easter TBD).
Reservations are highly recommended for the 8PM show, as seating is limited. The band goes back on at 9:45 for a more intimate session with special guest performers.
The Rat Pack Cafe is located on Route 9 in Framingham, MA behind Legal Seafood.
It was opened in October of 1998 to celebrate the lifestyles of Frank and friends- Fine food, great wine and spirits, music and friendships. On the menu, the restaurant holds the quote, "You've got to enjoy living baby, because dying is a pain in the ass", which sums up what this venue is all about.
