Getting Ethnic Businesses Online - One Vendor At A Time
Ethnic markets are hard to target because they are so fragmented. One entrepreneur, however, has the "ethnic" in online covered. And, she's bringing others who target this demographic along with her. New York, NY (PRWEB) March 9, 2004 --Ethnic markets are hard to target because they are so fragmented. One entrepreneur, however, has the "ethnic" in online covered. And, she's bringing others who target this demographic along with her. How?
Through EthnicVendors.com, an all-inclusive destination for wholesalers and retailers of ethnic merchandise.
Yuwanda Black owns EthnicHomeDecor.com (EHD), the aforementioned EthnicVendors.com, and the soon-to-be-opened EthnicGiftBaskets.com. The idea for EthnicVendors was borne from Ms. Black's frustration in finding affordable advertising outlets for EHD.
She states, "If you can afford to advertise in mass media, where to place your marketing dollars is not a problem. But, most vendors with ethnic products market on a shoe-string budget.
So, I thought to myself, 'Wouldn't it be nice to have an affordable advertising outlet for those of us who target an ethnic audience - all in one place?' Many vendors had contacted me wanting to exchange banners and/or advertise on EthnicHomeDecor.com. But, we don't do that.
Enter EthnicVendors.com - the perfect solution!
Vendors can advertise for as little as $19.95 a month. Because we already do a lot of advertising for EHD, I just extend that marketing reach to EthnicVendors.com. How?
For example, we send postcards/brochures to all subscribers in our database every 6 to 8 weeks. The front showcases Ethnic Home Decor, while the back introduces EthnicVendors.com.
It costs the same 23¢ to send a postcard, whether you're highlighting one business or two. Since many small business owners can't afford direct mail, or any kind of advertising, this allows them to benefit from our success.
We also cross-promote, meaning you can find information on EthnicVendors.com at EthnicHomeDecor.com, and vice versa. We will do the same with EthnicGiftBaskets.com.
Some other marketing methods we use are press release services such as BlackPR.com; free article distribution to our database of journalists; and e-newsletter campaigns. We used all of these methods to successfully grow EHD; and are doing the same with EthnicVendors.com.
As anyone in business knows, getting exposure is tough. By combining offline and online marketing techniques, those who can't afford to go it alone can capitalize on our success and grow on a shoe-string budget."
