TRANSEC Approves MPS for Port Security Training Courses
The Maritime Protective Services (MPS) accreditation was granted after a stringent approval process, and TRANSEC has indicated that the Department will not recognize any organization offering PFSO courses, which have not been accredited, for Transport, the 'contracting government for the UK under the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
(PRWEB) March 10, 2004 -- MPS has become one of a select group of organizations to receive accreditation for its training courses for port facility security officers (PFSOs) from TRANSEC, the agency within the UK Department for Transport responsible for port security.
We are extremely pleased that our education and training capabilities have been acknowledged by TRANSEC," says Dr. Bob Sewak, Vice President of Education and Training for MPS. The PFSO training course another excellent example of our battery of highly developed training programs, including those for ship and company security officers. And, through our strategic alliance with Maine Maritime Academy, we will be offering the port sector this critical assistance for its preparations for ISPS Code compliance."
One of the key elements of MPSs integrated approach to port security is the MPS Method for Port Security, a flexible administrative tool to help port managers and operators comply with the ISPS Code, which includes a collection of port advisory services and other training solutions, such as the PFSO training course.
The MPS PFSO training courses form part of an integrated approach to port security and have evolved to there high level of efficiency following keynote participation in a series of international port security conferences, by the management team at MPS. These conferences, provided not only a forum for open exchange of concerns and ideas, but afforded MPS and opportunity to initiate a dialogue with a wide range of industry and governmental representatives that helped mold the comprehensive methodology for managing security within a port or port facility that is employed in the MPS Method. Engagements for MPS services and trainings have or are being carried out in England, Egypt, Greece, several South American countries, as well as here in the United States.
