Guitarist and Singer Songwriter Garrin Benfield is nominated for an Indie Acoustic Award!

Nowhere Is Brighter has been selected as one of the finalists for the Indie Acoustic Project's "Best CDs of 2001 to 2003" Awards in the Male Singer-Songwriter category.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA., (PRWEB) March 10, 2004 --Nowhere Is Brighter has been selected as one of the finalists for the Indie Acoustic Project's "Best CDs of 2001 to 2003" Awards in the Male Singer-Songwriter category. The selection process included more than 1000 CDs. John Sirkis of the Indie Acoustic Awards Project said we were privileged to experience hundreds of outstanding CDs, but we were only able to award recognition to the top 5 CDs in each of 12 categories."

This announcement comes on heels of the selection of Home" from the same album being selected for inclusion on a recently released compilation CD that also included cuts from Ani DiFranco, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Les Claypool and Charlie Hunter. Not in Our Name, a non-profit organization that promotes peaceful resolutions to cultural differences", released that compilation on Broken Arrow Records. As well, Performing Songwriter Magazine chose To Know (also from Nowhere is Brighter) for their annual compilation CD in 2003. The disk was also selected by the editors of Acoustic Guitar Magazine and Performing Songwriter as Top 10 CDs" in its first year of release.

The purpose of the Indie Acoustic Project Awards is to generate increased awareness of indie artists and record companies by promoting and recognizing outstanding works of innovative, independently produced acoustic music from around the world, and to provide a means of helping the artists to reach a wider audience. Past winners have included Greg Brown, Melissa Ferrick and Donna the Buffalo.

Currently, Garrin is in rehearsals in anticipation of the recording of his third Studio album due to be released in September of this year. In addition, a full-length live CD titled August Live that was recorded during his summer tour last year is due to be released in April. That disk contains 12 professionally recorded tracks and includes work from Nowhere is Brighter, a few new and unreleased songs and a handful of Benfields legendary covers. The disk captures Benfields alluring stage performance perfectly and encompasses ample selections of his full-throttle, full-band excursions alongside his more plaintive acoustic balladry. A spring tour is also in the works.
