D.A.Y.S. Calls on RecycleMichael and GreenDoreen to head up UK National Schools Recycle Challenge
Two new childrens characters, RecycleMicheal and GreenDoreen have been created by Donate As You Spend, the promoters of Recycle4Schools, to activate kids into protecting the environment AND assist schools to raise funds for equipment.
(PRWEB) March 11, 2004 -- 31,000 UK junior and 'middle schools have been invited to take part in the Recycle4Schools Challenge, a prize driven challenge which is sponsored by acclaimed charity fundraisers Donate As You Spend - http://www.recycle4schools.org.uk
Led by the characters RecycleMichael and GreenDoreen, the idea for the Challenge is to activate children to get involved and actually see how they can easily help reduce waste. It uses Donate As You Spends D.A.Y.S. Recycle Appeal" services to derive donations from the recycling of Inkjet Cartridges, Mobile Phones and Laser Toner Cartridges. Donations go to the school or any charity chosen by the school.
To make the challenge even more fun, and educational, for each item recycled the school and team are given 'virtual bricks, which are being visually displayed on the challenge website to build the 'Virtual Wall of Great Britain. It is hoped this will stretch from John O' Groats to Landsend on a scale map of the country.
The challenge cup will go to the school with the largest contribution to the challenge and recycling by the end of 2004, as well as many prizes throughout the year for individuals and teams.
For each mobile phone recycled the School (or its designated charity) receives 2 and 60 pence for every Inkjet Cartridge. Also, for each laser toner cartridge recycled there is a donation which varies according to type. Individual recyclers supporting the schools within the local area, such as local businesses, scout associations or families can also choose to receive CharityPoints as a reward, or donate them to the cause.
CharityPoints is a loyalty and reward service for charity supporters operated in association with Donate As You Spend.
