ArTrac G4 Telecom Management Software Adds New IT Monitoring Capabilities

Top level network monitoring solution expands into transport layer for IT network management

March 16, 2004 (PRWEB) March 16, 2004 -- The L.W. Hancock Corporation continues to lead the way with affordable software solutions for telecom providers requiring innovative monitoring solutions. Today, they announced a further IT enhancement of their ArTrac G4 product line with the inclusion of their SNMP Client Plug-In. ArTrac G4 utilizes a design concept which offers a web based platform that allows for customers to pick and choose additional components they might optionally desire to include in monitoring their telecommunications managed network. The SNMP Client Plug-In now adds to the robust capabilities of the ArTrac G4 monitoring system.

The ArTrac G4 SNMP Client Plug-In provides built-in support for the many network devices which communicate via the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). Devices in your network that use SNMP include routers, switches, fiber terminals, remote telemetry units (RTUs), microwave terminals, servers and enterprise computers, MUXs, digital access cross connect switches, hubs, ring nodes, protocol converters, UPS systems, and static inverters, to name a few. The SNMP Client Plug-in can receive SNMP messages directly from network equipment or from enterprise SNMP based network management platforms such as the fully integrated ArTrac G4 SNMP Agent Plug-In, HP OpenView, and SNMPc by Castlerock, providing a flexible solution for both managed and unmanaged networks. With the SNMP Client Plug-In, ArTrac G4 can consolidate IT and NOC management under one highly scalable, and feature rich framework.

Any RFC1157 compliant Management Information Base (MIB) can be utilized by the SNMP Client Plug-In, providing full support for SNMP version 1 and 2 standards. Over 300 industry standard MIBs are included with the plug-in, providing support for most of todays popular network devices. MIBs are also available from equipment manufacturers. Finally, ArTrac G4 can translate the SNMP object identifier (OID) into any human readable message, giving ArTrac G4 absolute flexibility over the interpretation, mediation, and presentation of SNMP messages. It is exciting that a true OSS solution such as ArTrac G4 can manage the top level of network operations and now also can extend into the IT layer to monitor additional mission critical equipment in our customers networks," says telecom industry consultant Kevin Anderson, President of Reliacell, Inc.
