(PRWEB) March 12, 2004 --Julius Caesar fell victim to the false trust of a colleague, despite his own inclinations and the soothsayers repeated warnings, Beware the Ides of March." His story is common; when people dont heed warnings and follow their instincts, they run the risk of trusting the wrong person and being conned.
Perhaps the worst type of con artist is the cheater who destroys a marriage. He or she steals your pride, your confidence, and your self-worth, while love and faith often mask the warnings of infidelity. This infamous time of year is a reminder to assess your own situations and relationships. Is there a con artist in your midst?
Many people find it difficult to confront the cheater and disrupt the family and the status quo. As a result, they keep their suspicions to themselves. Thats precisely what Lib Lander did. Relatives and friends may think you have a great life and you dont want to upset that image," said Lib Lander, co-author of the new book, Mirrored Lives: The True Story of Two Women, One Man, and the Betrayals that Brought Them Together (Cameo Publications, $17.95, ISBN 0-9744149-0-5). The book recounts the full story of Lib Lander (wife one) and Jan Lander (wife two) and the man who conned them both. With real advice from real women who were once victims, the book can help readers identify deception in their own relationships.
During different times in their lives, Jan and Lib Lander both sought escape, one from poverty and the other from a boring marriage. In their searches, they fell for the same handsome, charismatic man for different reasons, but their experiences with him mirrored deception. They both ignored their gut feelings and the warning signs: the violent, unexpected mood swings; the secretive, withdrawn behavior; the lack of communication; and the late nights at work.
You feel crazy without any hard evidence," said Lib Lander. And hell justify your craziness when you bring it up." Lib and Jan Lander put their trust, faith, and love into their marriages and both women learned lessons of the con man the hard way. After countless lies and heartbreaks, they escaped their troubled marriages, pulled themselves out of depression, and put their lives and themselves back together. Their book can help others do the same.
Jan Lander is an educational consultant and Lib Lander is a middle school teacher. Through their common experiences, they developed a friendship and helped each other heal the wounds of deceit. They collaborated on this book to share their story and insight with other women who may be ignoring the signs of a cheat.
