National radio host, best-selling author and child advocate Dr. Laura Schlessinger will sign her new best seller, "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" (HarperCollins) at the Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena, Calif. on Monday, March 29 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
PASADENA, CA (PRWEB) March 15, 2004 --National radio host, best-selling author and child advocate Dr. Laura Schlessinger will sign her new best seller, "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" (HarperCollins) at the Vroman's Bookstore in Pasadena on Monday, March 29 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Schlessinger's book, which has been on the New York Times Bestseller List since it was released in January, proposes that women have an extraordinary power to transform their husbands, their marriages and their lives. "Women are in the unique position of having an extraordinary amount of influence over their husbands," says Schlessinger, "which when exercised thoughtfully, compassionately, lovingly and intelligently results in a happier husband who will swim through shark infested waters to bring her a lemonade."
Schlessinger believes women fester and ferment over disappointments, slights, annoyances and angers. "Attitude is about believing that your mate has your best interests at heart; it is about not letting loving feelings be squelched by everyday annoyances and disappointments; it is about benefit of the doubt; it is about cherishing the moments and living for the well-being of the other and being sustained by the joy of giving and the blessing of receiving in return," says Schlessinger.
As founder of the Dr. Laura Schlessinger Foundation, Schlessinger devotes much of her time and energy to helping children in crisis. The foundation created the My Stuff Bags program in 1999 to provide tens of thousands of My Stuff Bags each year to kids who must be rescued by police or children services agencies from abusive or dangerous home lives. "They suddenly find themselves in unfamiliar surroundings with nothing--no clothes, no toys, no personal belongings of any kind," says Schlessinger. "The My Stuff Bags program addresses the immediate physical and emotional needs of these children. The bags contain personal items donated by thousands of generous people. Kids open up the bags and find things like a blanket, a stuffed animal, games and toiletries that they can call their own as they settle into their new surroundings."
The foundation will stuff 75,000 bags in 2004 and send them to more than 750 child services centers across the U.S. "Almost 300,000 children are rescued each year," says Schlessinger. "The foundation's goal is to ensure that each year, every rescued child receives a My Stuff Bag." For more information go to www.drlaura.com.
