Ms. Cartland loved the portrait and commissioned me to paint her step-granddaughter's portrait as a present from her. At the appointed time, to my amazement, the very beautiful, and very shy Lady Diana Spencer entered the living room. Lady Diana liked my sketches of her and as Dame Barbara gave her a rose from a magnificent flower arrangement in the living room, she said "oh, yes my dear, Diana the English Rose." The title for the portrait was born," stated famous artist Alexander Presniakov.
