National Response Extends Call For Submissions For Sisterhood Journal Project

Women of Color sends message that they are ready to heal through an overwhelming response to the Sisterhood Journal Project. Call for submission deadline has been extended to May 15, 2004.

New York (PRWEB) March 13, 2004 --A single woman invited her sisters to join the conversation on healing women of color in the belief that now is the time for us to come together to reestablish that deep sense of connection among us. The Sisterhood Journal project is the medium through which the journey of healing will be documented. The deadline for submissions has been extended to May 15, 2004. We are looking for women of color of all ages to share An open letter to my sister" addressing a wide range of issues pertinent in their lives to create dialogue and subsequently healing the bond that keeps them connected. Journal entries should be 200 words or less, poetry is welcomed. All submissions should be sent to mysistermyself@hotmail.com.

"The first call garnered such a response from women across the country we wanted to give more time to share and invite other women to do the same", said project coordinator Robin G. Pugh. The women whose entries are selected for publishing will receive a complimentary copy of the Sisterhood Journal and will be invited to the culminating event (TBA) to share their works and advance the conversation that will lead women of color to re-claim their power.

Robin G. Pugh is a graduate of Lincoln University and holds a Masters of Human Services (MHS) that addresses the psychology, sociology, and ethics of social change. She is the project coordinator of the Sisterhood Journal and has worked with various organizations to develop and maintain programs that seek to enhance the quality of life of the people in the community. Only the black woman can say "when and where I enter, in the quiet, undisputed dignity of my womanhood...then and there the whole race enters with me." --Anna Juila Cooper, Educator, 1892
