Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) March 14, 2004 --In the midst of the recent battles between church and state, heterosexuals and homosexuals and equal opportunities for same sex marriages as the previously norm" marriages, local Atlanta writer, Shonia Brown explodes onto the literary scene with her debut novel, A Deeper Love. Although categorized as an urban love story, this thought provoking and inspirational story reaches far beyond any label could define it. The melodic tone and heart felt realism of the writers words could be felt by readers from all lifestyles, and it provides the simplistic answer to all of the recent controversy in its powerful message that love knows no color, sexual orientation, etc., love is found deep within oneself and then transferred to others.

In A Deeper Love, Shonia takes us into the lives of the main characters, Angela Reynolds known to her friends as Angel, and the beautiful, dark and statuesque, Paula Travis. The story opens at a white lesbian bar on Christmas Eve, where Angel is in search of the mystery behind her ex-lovers attraction for a white woman. After being dumped by her lover, Angel finds herself alone at the bar soaking her wounds in Cape Cods, but not for long. She encounters Kimberly Chase, a club regular who encourages Angel to take her to a local black lesbian club. Their journey to the new club scene jump starts Angels holiday and rewards her with the sweetest dip of chocolate wrapped neatly in the tightest red package that shed ever received as a Christmas gift!"

On the outside, Paula presents to the world the image of a confident, strong, beautiful and vivacious woman. She is Angels Cleopatra in the flesh!" However, deep inside Paulas soul lurks the painful memories of a childhood filled with ridicule and pain. In meeting Angel, Paula never expected to be encouraged to face those painful childhood memories with the loving support of a younger woman. Will the two be able to get the deeper love thats waiting for them on the inside? The answer to that question is waiting for you inside the cover of A Deeper Love.

Shonia Brown began her writing career at the young age of 10 as she filled several notebook binders with an all black cast soap opera, and a variety of romance novels. It was later in life that she realized she had a different story to tell, when she accepted her role within another community. Shonia wants to add to the stories of todays black gays and lesbians, and bridge the gap between different cultures (race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.) She believes that the love and acceptance we all search for is the universal bond to tie us all together.

With the collaboration of local Atlanta artist, Kermin Middleton, Shonia has created a true work of art. The book from the inside/out promises to be an aesthetic delight for the eyes, mind and soul of its readers.
