Frank Cuzzocrea Jr. Announces his Goals for the Florida Federation of Young Republicans as he runs for the Office of State Co-Chair

This is an offical Press Release sent by Frank Cuzzocrea Jr., Vice President of the Biscayne Bay Young Republicans, to the Presidents of the Various Florida Young Republicans Chapters.

(PRWEB) March 15, 2004 --My name is Frank Cuzzocrea Jr., Vice President of the Biscayne Bay Young Republicans, and with your support on June 5th, I will be your next State Co-Chair.

In this upcoming election year our way of life is being challenged by the extreme liberal views of John Kerry; saying one thing and doing another. He will say he is opposed to gay marriage, but when the vote counts, he joins his buddy Ted Kennedy as one of only 13 senators to vote against the Bill Clinton requested, Jesse Helms sponsored, Defense of Marriage Act. When not tossing his buddys medals over the White House lawn, he votes against liberating Kuwait and against authorizing funds to continue the restoration of Iraq; money necessary for supplies to our troops in combat, training coalition and Iraqi forces against terrorism, and financial restoration for a democratic Iraq. Publicly, Kerry laments like No Child Left Behind and the Patriot even though he voted for both. When hes not calling for Trade Reform" in front of unions, he votes for NAFTA, GATT, and full relations with China. He tells southerners he is for gun rights but supports gun control. When you meet him he will say hes right handed if youre a righty or left handed if youre a lefty. Hes so far out in left field; he attempted, without a single sponsor, to gut national security intelligence spending after 9/11. We need to get behind our President and we need to do it now.

So, you may be wondering why, Mr. Cuzzocrea, should we feel that you are one of those people at the state level that should be leading the charge to victory? First, we need someone with the experience to not only get out the vote from the right, but to change the opinions of the Rhinos, the Independents, the Democrats that dont know any better, and those who want to stay home if our candidate isnt Perfect". We need someone that can look to the center to bring them into the fold, and to wake the sleeping giant of the right. We need them not only to get out there on election day but also on August 31st for the Primaries, September 30th for the first Presidential Debate in Coral Gables, and for the buildup throughout the year for our President as well as our other Republican Candidates. President Bush has growing bipartisan support, Mayor Dermer of Miami Beach and Mayor Naugle of Fort Lauderdale have both endorsed his reelection, and if we can get two important Democrats to go with us we can get others joining us as well.

Second, we need a board that represents the diversity of this great state and has representation from every part of the state. Whether you commute to Miami or Tampa, follow the Canes, Noles, or Gators, or you live in the I-4 or on a Farm Field in Sumter County, each area of this state has its own unique makeup that the concentration around one area alone will ultimately alienate the federation from having the influence it needs to impact the entire state. We are a state that goes from skyscrapers and interstate congestion to orange groves and country stores in a matter of minutes. When you vote in June, vote for someone who commits themselves to filling in all the gaps.

Third, if we are going to win not just this November, but the Novembers when our children vote, we are going to need to expand the number of clubs throughout the state. Presently, we have only 34 clubs in 32 counties, leaving 35 counties without a single organized youth voice to counter the left. Image if we had more YRs in the Panhandle, when the networks called the election for Gore before the polls closed, we could have had young people manning the phones and getting more voters to the polls. We would have won by several thousands, not 537. We need to empower our newly formed regions and solidify our existing chapters. We need to invest time, effort, and money into county RECs that can find college students, recent high school grads, and small business owners to start and maintain clubs. We need to find more sponsors for our quarterlies, and split the proceeds to form new clubs and promote awareness for our existing clubs.

Fourth, we need to improve the image of our organization and our party to young people. Unfortunately, we had to give the ultimate punishment to one of our clubs in January because of the actions of one tyrannical member. We need new ideas, new programs, and new safe guards to protect the image of this institution. We need to practice what we preach; the private sector can help resolve societys ills, not the expansion of government. We need to have events that enhance the communities we touch, so that the next generation can see that we are the party of good deeds, not simply the party of good ideas.

Finally, we need to not only reelect our President but also strengthen all representation at all levels of government. We need to elect more Republican Senators, Representatives, County Mayors, and city officials. If our President doesnt have the Florida Delegation behind him, if our Governor and our legislature are on different pages, if we lack local leaders to develop grassroots participation in Miami, Orlando, and Alachua, and if we fail to give our President a Senator with the same important values on trade, human rights, national defense, the economy, and our way of life then we have not fully succeeded. We can do this with strong leaders who can bring diverse groups together while standing behind our beliefs of less government intervention, less taxation, stiffer penalties for criminals and deadbeat parents, and the belief that we all the have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We need board members that can represent West Florida, South Florida, North Florida, and the all important I-4 Corridor, with the grace and wisdom to educate voters throw the thorns of hypocrisy to the promise of a better tomorrow. We need someone who stands up for whats right; keeping the embargo with Cuba and protecting South America from Chavezs new age Communism, reducing unwanted pregnancy through educating our children about abstinence and the dangers of drugs and alcohol, fighting for the elimination of a destructive tax code that punishes innovation and hard work, and fighting for stronger penalties to criminals and those who abandon their children, with the enthusiasm to strive forward into the stormiest weather for the tranquil sea. We need someone who can lead this federation if called upon, listen to club presidents and members at large for their ideas, and interact with the greater community to grow our local clubs throughout the state. We need a board that will represent the views of the majority but can address the concerns of the minority. On June 5th, I am looking for your support as our next State Co-Chairman so that together we can lay the groundwork for our state and our countrys future.
