Cheshire, Oregon (PRWEB) March 17, 2004 -- What do Hewlett Packard, Mary Kay Cosmetics and Hershey all have in common? They all started out as home-based businesses. It is estimated that over 30% of U.S. households operate an income-producing business, according to the SBA, and the trend is stretching around the globe.
Oregon-based entrepreneur Nancy Johnson, former manager of hersmallbusiness.com (a division of the HerPlanet network) thinks it's time the online community celebrated its primarily home-based successes. Similar to offline expos, the 2004 'Celebrating Home Business Expo,' kicking off April 1st - 3rd, will have plenty of glitz and glamour - new product introductions, guest speakers and training seminars, dozens of merchant booths to check out, and grand prize contests. Participants will attend for free and have access to it all - minus the sore feet.
In conversations with other home business owners, Johnson discovered that several were celebrating anniversaries in April. "It seemed like a good idea to celebrate together, and the idea just grew from that to celebrating home business in general," says Johnson.
Jill Hart, owner of CWAHM.com is excited about participating in this global event. CWAHM is dedicated to bring moms home to their families. CWAHM is a Christian-based website that provides resources and information on home-based work at telecommuting jobs. You can visit CWAHM at www.cwahm.com and even sign up to speak with moms who already work from home!
Johnson's current business, an online community called the Small Business Referral Network (SBRN), has partnered with five other home businesses to co-host the event, which will take place primarily at http://www.theexpoconnection.com/. Throughout the entire month, chats and seminars will be going on at the SBRN site and on individual merchant's sites, as well.
The other hosts include WAHM's United, http://www.wahmsunited.com/, Bizy Parent Solutions http://bizyparentsolutions.com/, Dax Development http://www.daxdevelopment.com/, and two who are celebrating 5th anniversaries in April - Comprehensive Virtual Editing (CoVE) Services http://www.mvwindwalker.com/coveservices and The Busy Woman's Day Planner, http://www.thebusywoman.com/ .
Sponsors for the event are still welcome, and merchants can sign up for tables and seminars now. For more information, visit www.smallbusinessreferralnetwork.com/expo.htm or http://www.theexpoconnection.com/HomeExpoVendorInfo.htm .
