ATP Introduces Worlds First 256MB Reduced Sized MMC (RS-MMC). Largest Capacity in Smallest Form Factor. Further Establish ATP as the Technology and Market Leader in Providing High Density Small Form Factor Flash Card.

ATP Electronics Inc, a leading manufacturer of memory products, announced today worlds first 256MB RS-MMC cards ATP RS-MMC cards are targeted mainly at the next-generation smart mobile phones and mobile digital devices where high memory capacity in a small form factor is crucial.

Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) March 18, 2004 -RS-MMC was introduced by the MultiMediaCard Association (MMCA) in November 2002. It is approximately one-half the size of the standard MultiMediaCard (MMC). RS-MMC offers all of the benefits of MMC but is 50% smaller. As an extension to the existing MMC standard, RS-MMC allows cell phone and consumer electronics developers to design ultra small devices.

ATPs strength is to design high capacity, performance and quality flash cards in ultra small form factor. The ATP RS-MMC has exceptional functions and performance in a tiny form factor that is just 24x18x1.4mm and weighing about a gram. We are proud to bring worlds first 256MB RS-MMC into our well established flash media product line. We already released 512MB and 1GB MMC last year and the introduction of 256MB RS-MMC further validates ATPs technology and product leadership to bring highest capacity cards in smallest form factor possible. The accelerating growth of next generation mobile devices which requires large storage yet tiny in size will provide a huge market demand for small form factor cards. ATP RS-MMC is the perfect solution to fulfill this needs." said Danny Lin, ATP VP of Sales and Marketing.

ATP 256MB RS-MMC provides mobile OEMs the freedom to integrate more rich multimedia functions into the devices, thereby enables the next cellular revolution. With the open standards advantage of RS-MMC, device manufacturers are easily to adopt it. Major cell phone markers such as Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Siemens which supports MMC are believed to adopt RS-MMC into their future devices. This new market represents a significant opportunity for ATP RS-MMC.

RS-MMC is compatible with the existing MMC standard. The ATP 256MB RS-MMC will be available to both OEM and retail channels and is expected to begin volume shipments in Q2. ATP RS-MMC is also available in 32, 64, 128MB capacities. The complete ATP flash media product lines includes MMC, RS-MMC, SD, miniSD and Flash Reader.
