Luxtron Introduces ThermAsset(TM) Temperature Monitor
Cost-effective fiber optic hot spot monitor for small and medium-sized transformers
Santa Clara, CA, (PRWEB) March 17, 2004 -- Luxtron Corporation, the leading provider of in-situ fiber optic thermometry solutions to the power utility, semiconductor and medical industries announces the introduction of the ThermAssetÔ Monitor designed for cost effective, direct and real time hot spot monitoring of small and medium sized utility transformers down to 25 MVA.
At the heart of the ThermAsset(TM) monitor is Luxtrons patented Fluoroptic(R) technology, also used in the 4th generation high end WTS-22 controller. A streamlined design, incorporating the same core electronics and ruggedized fiber optic probes as the WTS-22, enables the ThermAsset(TM) to extend the benefits of best practice hot spot monitoring to small and medium-sized transformers, previously affordable only on large (>100 MVA) transformers.
Unlike conventional winding temperature indicators that infer" the hot spot by measuring top or bottom oil temperature, the ThermAsset(TM) enables direct, real time, accurate measurement of transformer winding temperature thereby providing valuable input to calibrate thermal models and enable dynamic load control. The drift-free, calibration-free nature inherent in the Fluoroptic(R) technology makes these systems ideally suited for use in transformers.
Based on over 20 years of field proven designs, the ThermAsset(TM) monitors come in a compact, rugged NEMA enclosure and use sturdy ring lug connectors for all electrical connections. Output options include RS232 digital, 0-1 mA or 4-20mA analog outputs.
