High school seniors graduating in June and accepted for college entrance in Fall 2004 are eligible to apply for a $1,000 scholarship. 10 selected to be announced in June. Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) March 18, 2004 --The Bethpage Federal Credit Union Scholarship Fund Dollars for Scholars" has announced that it will award ten (10) $1,000 scholarships to qualified Long Island high school seniors who meet the requirements and complete the application available online at www.bethpagefcu.com (Scholarship Fund or Dollars for Scholars) by the deadline of April 30, 2004.

The Bethpage FCU Dollars for Scholars" was established to provide a monetary stipend to advance students dreams of higher education," stated Kirk Kordeleski, president and CEO of the credit union.    Requirements for scholarship eligibility also include: 1. being a member of Bethpage FCU (no fee) at the time of the application; 2. a graduating senior enrolled in a fully accredited two- or four-year college or university as a full-time student; and 3. meeting the April 30th deadline with all requested materials in place, including application signed by parent or guardian.

   Applicants will be scored in the following: an unweighted average of 85 or 2.5 equivalent on a scale of 1-4; school transcripts sent in by deadline; student letter explaining what student expects to achieve while in college; one letter of recommendation; listing of participation in school extra curricular activities or sports; community involvement and/or work or internship; college letter of acceptance.    Students from across Long Island may apply, although Bethpage employees, their children and grandchildren and any volunteers are ineligible. Scholarships are non-renewable. All scholarships will be awarded within guidelines established by the Foundation and in accordance with its nondiscrimination policy. Such scholarships will be awarded on a nondiscriminatory basis without regard to applicants race, color, national or ethnic origin, sex, age or religion.
