Lawrence and David of Arabia Release Ballad of Saddam Hussein Comedy CD ... http://free.hostdepartment.com/e/ent/esaddam.html

What happened to Saddam? Months before Saddam surrendered from a Tikrit rat hole, Lawrence and David of Arabia speculated on his fate in a hilarious new song. Now they're back with the Ballad of Saddam Hussein anniversary edition as their aid to wartime morale.

(PRWEB) March 18, 2004 --Good morale is essential to the war effort in the war for the survival of civilization against international terrorism. For example:

"Months after the invasion of Iraq, there is still speculation about whether Saddam Hussein is alive or dead. Was Saddam killed by the mother of all bombs in Baghdad? Is he hanging out in a trendy French restaurant or in a Syrian sewer? Or is he rotting in the Baghdad subways?"

That was the introduction used in spring 2003 when Lawrence and David of Arabia recorded their crazy new ballad of Saddam Hussein: The Pig Who Never Returned. Back then, we didn't know whether Saddam was alive or dead.

"The ballad is a parody of another subway-related song that the Kingston Trio made famous, MTA," says bandleader Lawrence. "With hints of still another funny ballad just for fun."

Now this spring, a year after the invasion and liberation of Iraq, a first anniversary edition of the ballad is being released, with a snappier title: The Ballad of Saddam Hussein. The anniversary edition is priced at less than $10, including postage and handling.

In a style reminiscent of both Allan Sherman and the Smothers Brothers, Lawrence and David of Arabia take shots at politicians, Sean Penn, CNN, UN inspectors, public transportation, Jeffrey Dahmer, Hollywood, Jacques Chirac, and of course, the evil Saddam and his now-deceased disreputable sons.

Also included is an appreciative mention of George W. Bush, Tony Blair, and the armed forces of the US and UK.

David, a south Florida writer who thinks he can sing, wrote and performed both topical comedy songs (parodies) on this CD: The Ballad of Saddam Hussein and Who-To-Vote-For List. Lawrence performs on keyboard and sings the chorus.

The Who-To-Vote-For List (bonus track) is a parody of I've Got A Little List from Gilbert and Sullivan's operetta, H.M.S. Pinafore. The Who-To-Vote-For List is David's commentary on the little lists on election day palm cards and the political machines of modern politics -- every bit as relevant in this election year as in 2000, 2002, or 2006.

Lawrence and David of Arabia don't expect to become American Idols with this song -- far from it. But if they help to improve American morale in the war on terrorism, they will have accomplished something.
