Flander To Showcase New Wireless Connectivity Solutions At CeBIT

Cordless Bar Code Scanner Connects To Symbian OS Devices Via Bluetooth, INFO Display System Enables Wireless Remote Management Of Ad Displays

Helsinki, Finland (PRWEB) March 18, 2004 --Flander Ltd, a Finland-based mobile technology company, will showcase two new wireless connectivity solutions, Socket Cordless Hand Scanner and INFO Display System, at CeBIT 2004, held in Hanover, Germany, March 18-24.

The Symbian OS software was developed by Flander, and will be marketed by Socket Communications, Inc., along with the Socket Cordless Hand Scanner. The Cordless Hand Scanner combined with Nokias Symbian-based mobile phones, communicating together via Bluetooth, add the phones new functionality with a vast range of potential applications in business use. The INFO Display System developed and marketed by Flander allows the management of advertisement and information displays remotely via a GPRS connection, offering completely new opportunities for focused advertising.

The wireless connectivity solutions introduced at CeBIT are the first of a range of products that Flanders Testing Services and Software Development business units have scheduled for commercial launch this year", said Mr. Mika Heikinheimo, CEO, Flander. Having doubled the number of employees in 2003 and increased sales by 55% while maintaining profitability, we expect even faster growth this year."

· Socket Cordless Hand Scanner is a matchbox-size bar code scanning device that connects to Symbian OS devices via Bluetooth. The unique device adds bar code scanning functionality to mobile phones based on the Nokia Series 60 platform and the Nokia 9500 Communicator launched in February 2004. Branded as a Socket product, the Cordless Hand Scanner will be commercially available via Socket distributors around the world beginning in May 2004.

The Cordless Hand Scanner using Bluetooth wireless technology combines the power of laser bar code scanning with the convenience of a cordless connection to a mobile device. The device integrates Symbian based software and SDK (Software Development Kit) created by Flander with hardware and embedded software developed by Socket.

· INFO Display System is a wireless remote management solution for advertisement and information displays. Offering completely new opportunities for focused and multimedia-enabled advertising and communication, the system can be used for a variety of applications such as advertising displays in stores and shopping centres and internal communication displays in corporate premises.

The INFO Display System with flat screens increases the efficiency of advertising and enables the use of underutilized locations such as elevators and escalators. The system includes a centralised web-based management software for managing the content in displays, connected to the management solution with Nokia 30 GRPS modems.

An ideal and cost efficient solution for chain stores, the INFO Display System can be used as a centrally managed in-store advertisement solution, programmed to display different targeted ads in each store, and to rotate and change content automatically and wirelessly in specific points of time.

NOTE TO EDITORS: The Socket Cordless Hand Scanner is showcased at CeBIT by Socket, Booth #D58, Hall 25. The INFO Display System is showcased at CeBIT by Flander, Booth #E68 (Nokia), Hall 26, second floor.
