Full Sail Introduces New Avid|DS HD Workstations

Full Sail, a media college in Florida, recently added Avid HD editing workstations to its Film School curriculum.

(PRWEB) March 19, 2004 --The latest addition to Full Sail Real World Education has brought six new Avid|DS HD systems online to be used in the Film departments Post Production course. The Avid editing platform has long been a part of the curriculum within the Film Degree Program, and this latest expansion brings the combined number of Avid workstations on Full Sails campus to twenty-eight.

The Avid|DS HD systems complement Full Sails current array of Avids by allowing Full Sail Film students to utilize real-time conforming and finishing for both uncompressed HD (high definition) and SD (standard definition) projects. Full Sail students can seamlessly integrate picture and audio editing, compositing, paint, animation, character generation, and media management tools to create polished and professional projects as a part of the Full Sail curriculum.

"Its an extremely powerful finishing and mastering system," says Dave Franko, Program Director for the Film Degree. After looking at all the options, and seeing the flexibility Avid|DS provides, Full Sails post-production team decided that this was the absolute best all around system for us to implement into our Degree Program."

The integration of the new Avid|DS HD platform has added another layer to Full Sails already comprehensive post-production training. Films such as Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones have catapulted high definition productions to the forefront of the entertainment industry, and this equipment will provide Full Sail students with the valuable training needed to work with the HD format in both the professional film and television post-production markets.

Avid systems make up a huge percentage of the total market share in the industry," says Franko, and students graduating from Full Sail are going to have working knowledge of the different Avid systems -- from Xpress to Composer to Symphony, and now on the very latest platform, the DS HD -- used by so many leading companies. This is our next step into the future."
