The Adventures of Juliana Del Rio:EPA/FBI EviroCrime Series brings Hope to Readers Concerned with Nuclear and Chemical Terrorism Issues

Popular action/mystery novels bring hope that terrorism and the assault on our environment can be conquered, with heroes and heroines that readers love. The Adventures of Juliana Del Rio: EPA/FBI is not your ordinary action novel... great reviews.

Yonkers, NY (PRWEB) March 19, 2004 ---- We all hear it, every day, nuclear and chemical terrorism are no longer just the theme of fantastic blockbuster movies, but they are real threats, that permeate every discussion. Not a single day goes by without a new alert adding to our daily lists of fears and terrors that we must face, bravely, to go on with our daily lives.

When we wrote the second episode of our EnviroCrime series, and created our characters Juliana and Sean, we started with the idea of preserving our environment through characters that represented the struggle we all are facing and the hope that we can overcome these problems. Pre 9/11, nuclear terrorism was not yet in the popular media, although there were many stories about its dangers. We realized then that terrorists would not stop at the cities and we found out there were many vulnerabilities in our security that could exploited by all kinds of criminals. Our first novel dealt with ocean dumping and nuclear terrorism in Alaska, and the second novel deals with the horrific possibility of a train full of toxic chemicals derailing and releasing its deadly gases near a small southern town when residents could not escape. All of these are incidents we worry about every day now," says one of the authors, Lidia LoPinto who created the characters.

But our stories are not about the horrific consequences of these terrible human acts against our own kind. Our novels are about hope. After 9/11 we changed the titles to the Adventures of Juliana Del Rio: EPA/FBI. Juliana is the central character, the one that makes all of us hope that there will be an end to the assault on our environment and our people and that even ordinary people have a chance to bring these thugs to justice. Juliana has no special training or superpowers, and she is not particularly talented at her job. But she has the one thing, we all need to succeed, passion. She has a passion for saving the environment because that means saving the people she loves, her family, her friends, her life in Viequez, everything. When you love life as much as Juliana does, hopelessness is not an option."

When we first wrote the stories we wanted to reach people at a personal level about the environment and through an entertainment medium they truly enjoyed and understood. The novels have enjoyed wonderful literary reviews from a number of publications. They rate high on entertainment, but they are based on true and scientifically feasible scenarios. The authors are both chemical engineers and have worked through the same problems terrorists or polluters would have overcome to commit these crimes. This adds to the interest of the reader, with rich technical details that lead into a page turning frenzy.

But there is also plenty of action, humor and romance in these fast moving mystery novels. Something for every action/mystery reader to enjoy."

Suitable also for young adult audiences, the EnviroCrime novels are currently available for screen rights and video game licensing.
