IMS E-commerce Site Draws Record Numbers: Wisconsin Film Festival Online Ticket Sales Exceed Expectation

(PRWEB) March 21, 2004 --Wisconsin Film Festival organizers have been working around the clock processing online ticket orders generated by their E-commerce application developed by IMS in conjunction with Festival marketing partner Planet Propaganda. Film Fest movie goers eagerly snapped up online tickets early and often helping to break the 2003 ticket sales record and selling out nearly half of all advance tickets within the first week of tickets sales.
"Clearly, opening day has become an event in and of itself for indie film fans," said Festival director Mary Carbine. "Orders were streaming in from all directions - fax, phone and online thanks to our new online order submission launched for the first time this year. Within one day 4,034 unique users had visited the site and 204 ticket packages were ordered," said Carbine.
Wisconsin film fans were ready and waiting to devour the 2004 schedule with a 27 percent increase in visitor volume to the Web site over the 2003 launch date. Online ticket ordering which began at 11:30 a.m. on March 3rd, prompted an immediate surge in traffic to the Web site. In less than 24 hours 716 online "wish list" or "shopping cart" registrations were tallied. In just two days the amount of wish lists almost exceeded the 1,076 total of wish list registrants for all of 2003.
"Site traffic was very high right after we opened online ordering, and next year we may consider increasing our bandwidth," said IMS Senior Developer Sam Hokin.
While online ordering proved great for ticket sales, Festival organizers did announce that ticket printing and mailing would be delayed. "We had to prioritize order fulfillment over ticket printing for mailing or pickup, due to the heavy ordering volume for the first few days," said Carbine.
