Forget mad cows, PETA is delusional

The threat of mad cow disease in the United States is not near as dangerous to the people of our country or our national security as an organization whose leader, Ingrid Newkirk, admits they are complete press sluts". PETAs latest stunt, comparing the lives of chickens to that of Jews in concentration camps, has drawn a great deal of criticism and has been labeled an anti-semitic provocation" by Jews in post-war Germany who are threatening a lawsuit against the radicals. If you question the living conditions of food animals in the United States, ask a farmer not a group that uses fear as a fund-raising tool.

Loup City, NE (PRWEB) March 22, 2004 --The threat of mad cow disease in the United States is not near as dangerous to the people of our country or our national security as an organization whose leader, Ingrid Newkirk, admits they are complete press sluts".

As a sixth generation farmer and a descendant of German immigrants, Trent Loos takes particular offense at PETAs latest stunt. Loos, who founded Faces of Agriculture to reconnect consumers with families that feed the world, believes that intelligent citizens are fed up with the outlandish tactics used by animal rights groups to garner media attention and finance such programs as Holocaust on a Plate."

Anyone that is familiar with livestock housed in enclosed buildings knows that those animals are typically very unwilling to leave the comfort of that facility. If PETAs analogy were accurate," says Loos they are suggesting that the Jews held in concentration camps had no desire to leave. I am quite sure that is not true". Loos explained that animals raised in controlled environments usually dont want to leave the building and if they do happen to get outside, they will stay in close proximity until they can figure out how to get back in. The catch phrase factory farms" is very misleading. Factory farms do not exist in the United States. The technologies used by todays farmers provide the most comfortable living conditions that food animals have ever had. Furthermore, none of the self-proclaimed animal advocates" have asked the animals what they prefer" Loos adds.

Animal rights groups led a campaign in Florida to outlaw the use of gestation crates in swine production based on emotion and misinformation, not scientific data. In fact, a study published recently in The Professional Animal Scientist found, through a thorough review of the literature, that there was indeed no negative effect of housing pigs in stalls when compared to keeping them in pens.

These well-funded groups use numerous tactics to convince the public that they need to follow a strict vegetarian diet in order to eliminate animal suffering. Elementary children are the newest target of the propaganda machine. Activist supporters infiltrate elementary classrooms with horrific photographs, videos and printed materials in an effort to bias the minds of our future leaders and convert them to a vegetarian lifestyle. Most of their information is false, misleading and even slanderous.

Parents are urged to get involved. Loos says, If your child comes home from school with any of these materials, you need to contact your school administration and your childs teacher immediately. If your kids want to learn about a farm, call a farmer. Get a tour and see for yourself how animals are cared for on American farms. Most farmers are happy to show their operation to the consumers who purchase their products. Get the truth. Dont buy into the activists scare tactics."

Faces of Agriculture is a non-profit organization with the mission of returning the human element to food production.
