SBS Technologies Teams with Celoxica to Shorten FPGA Computing Development Time
Celoxicas DK Design Suite makes programming SBS Altera-based FPGAs a snap
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 28, 2004 --Celoxica, Ltd. today announced from the Embedded Systems Conference a newly formed partnership with SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE) to bundle Celoxicas Handel-C development tools with the SBS Tsunami FPGA computing platforms, significantly shortening the programming time that embedded systems programmers need to leverage FPGA computing in their applications.
Celoxicas DK Design Suite provides a proven C-based programming environment, Handel-C, that lets C developers directly compile their code to a device-optimised FPGA implementation without requiring specialised expertise or RTL languages. With this added boost in productivity, developers can easily migrate applications to FPGA computing systems bringing the price and performance advantages of FPGA computing over processor-based systems to market faster with lower development costs.
SBS Technologies successfully supplies a winning mix of embedded computing hardware for aerospace/defence, medical, commercial and telecommunications applications, markets that can take advantage of rapid implementation of complex algorithms into hardware," said Phil Bishop, Celoxicas CEO. Combining the Celoxica DK Design Suite with SBS Tsunami FPGA computing platforms rapidly provides a high-performance embedded solution that takes advantage of direct implementation of C-based code to FPGA hardware."
Joe Hanson, director of marketing for system-level development tools at Altera Corporation adds, The SBS and Celoxica relationship provides embedded systems developers a proven, COTS solution to quickly leverage the performance of our leading Stratix family of FPGAs. Stratix devices lead the industry in providing the size and performance necessary to implement these complex systems. This development bundle offers a tremendous combination of platforms that will enable customers to quickly evaluate the performance advantages of accelerating their C-based algorithms in Altera® FPGAs. We are very excited to recommend this combination to our customers."
The DK Design Suite supports the Altera Stratix device used in the Tsunami FPGA computing platform. To ease programming effort, the suites Handel-C synthesis tool performs re-timing of critical paths, automatic use of FPGA combination multipliers and on-chip resources, and automatic pipelining of synchronous memory blocks.
Tsunami FPGA computing platform is available for most Stratix device sizes, in many form factors including PCI, PC-104, PMC, CPCI and environment temperature ranges from commercial to extreme duty conduction cooled.
The combined bundle is available immediately from either SBS Technologies or Celoxica. Development kits bundles start at $10,500.
