LynuxWorks Expands Dynamic Suite of Tools with New Eclipse Based IDE; Announces New Real Time Specification for Java
Industry Leader Continues to Offer Extended Value to Developers with Open Standard- Based Tools Across Entire Product Line; From Linux to LynxOS RTOS; Enables Development on the Linux 2.6 Kernel
Paris, France (PRWEB) March 28, 2004 --RTS Embedded Systems Show, Stand #O10, 30 March 2004 -- LynuxWorks today introduced significantly enhanced features to its Java and Eclipse platforms that enable developers to build systems that exhibit real-time behaviour and allows them to have complete control over their embedded and real-time applications. LynuxWorks provides powerful tools to speed development and bring embedded-system products to market more quickly-with better performance and quality from Linux to real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Real-Time Specification for Java (RTSJ)
Real Time Specification for Java (RTSJ) version 1.0 is an industry standard set of extensions that allows developers of LynuxWorks RTOS, LynxOS®, to bring real-time functionality to their Java Basic systems. RTSJ brings the advantages of the existing Java platform including binary portability, dynamic code loading, tool support, safety, security and simplicity to the (RTOS) market. LynuxWorks developers can now build on the benefits of Java and fulfil all their Java real-time needs.
LynuxWorks Eclipse Based IDE
The new LynuxWorks Eclipse based IDE is a Linux and Solaris-based development environment, powered by the Eclipse platform that provides developers of LynuxWorks BlueCat® Linux® with complete control over creating, editing, compiling, managing and debugging C/C++ and Java embedded and real-time applications. Developers also benefit from a target connection wizard to simplify target setup, an application wizard that jump starts development and a cross process viewer enabling users to view all the processes and threads on a specific target. The Eclipse IDE offers developers a choice in their preferred development environment by extending support to LynuxWorks premium tools, TotalView, a multi-process embedded debugger for LynxOS, and SpyKer, an embedded system trace tool. The Eclipse IDE also enables development on the Linux 2.6 kernel.
LynuxWorks also will release the latest version of VisualLynux 5.0, which adds the Visual Studio.NET look and feel, creating a familiar environment for existing VisuaStudio.NET users. VisualLynux 5.0 can be used for development on the Linux 2.6 kernel.
LynuxWorks continually strives to increase the value and ease of use of development tools by providing developers with toolset enhancements specifically designed to provide real-time functionality and ease of use and control over their development environment," said Bob Morris, vice president, sales and marketing, LynuxWorks. RTSJ, the Eclipse toolset and VisualLynux offer exceptional value and support for developers and enables them to develop, debug, deploy their embedded designs faster. In addition to driving the next wave of Linux adoption by providing tools for the Linux 2.6 kernel, LynuxWorks tools are also open-standards based so they work with the full product line -- from Linux to LynxOS."
Capable of development on the Linux 2.6 kernel, the new tools represent LynuxWorks continued commitment to meet the needs of its customers by continuing to allow developers to take advantage of improved real-time performance. The increased real-time behaviour of Linux 2.6 is becoming the standard for embedded Linux developers.
LynuxWorks will be demonstrating its tools and embedded operating systems at Stand #O10 at the RTS Embedded Systems Show, 29 March -- 1 April 2004 in Paris, France. Stop by to see how LynuxWorks is helping developers in a wide range of embedded design projects, from start to finish.
