Party 105.3: First Hip-Hop Radio Show In Long Island Makes History

Manhattan has Hot 97 and Power 106, yet these stations don't reach out to Eastern Long Island. That's why Party 105.3 launched the first Hip-Hop show based on Long Island... "Block Radio." "I want my...Block Radio."

LONG ISLAND, NY (PRWEB) March 28, 2004 --The eastern Long Island radio station WDRE, better known as Party 105.3, is utilizing a ground breaking strategy to start the first Long Island based hip-hop station with a new show called "Block Radio." The premier show started Monday March 15th and air's every Tuesday from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. thereafter. "Tone Capone" of Jive Records and producer of Hot 97's show, "Street Soldiers" will be hosting. Auditions for a co-host are currently being held.

"Block Radio"

"Block Radio" is going to be a two hour show jam packed with special on air guest interviews of R & B and hip-hop artists ranging from Puffy to Kanye West, plus an array of guest DJ's including DJ Smooth Denali, The Turntable Assasins and many others to come.

About WDRE, Party 105.3

Unfortunately it has taken awhile for Long Island to have its OWN hip-hop station, but low and behold, this overdue, long awaited time has come and WDRE is breaking the boundaries. Long Island is full of local stations yet nothing committed to strictly urban music, so now is the moment that everyone in Eastern Long Island will have the opportunity to hear the sounds of the streets.

Hot 97 broke ground by becoming one of New York City's top hip-hop stations. It reaches out as far as Nassau County, Western Suffolk County, parts of New Jersey and even Western Connecticut. So what happens to Eastern Long Island, especially the Hamptons? The people that enjoy urban music have no stations to tune to and the Hamptons is the hugest party location during the summer. That's why they need what Party 105.3 will be offering them. All of the areas that Hot 97 cannot cover, WDRE will be covering. From Eastern Long Island to Southern Connecticut, everyone who was forced to listen to a limited selection of music, will now be able to enjoy a show, a station that they can connect to because Party 105.3 is on their home turf.

WDRE and "Block Radio"

The fact remains that urban music is the most listened to in the world and it's a shame when people of all ages who truly love, enjoy and connect to the music, are deprived of it. "Block Radio" is going to break the barrier between the corporate and urban world to unite them and learn from eachother. Promotions and Marketing manager for "Block Radio," Rodini Almonacy states "You know it's funny because hip-hop really is the 'rock and roll' of our generation. It's so much bigger now than it ever was, yes hip-hop can raise controversey, but it's simply the urban community speaking to the world. We shouldn't try to water it down, it is what it is."

"Block Radio" is going to be a great thing for East Long Island to break all the barriers and bring everybody from everywhere together. That's what hip-hop is about, unity. We allow people of all races to listen to the same song, it forms a really strong bond. In hip-hop, there is no black or white, it's all about the music. That's all that WDRE is about, music. "Block radio," we're all on the same block, no dividers.

"Are you big enough for the Block?"
