The Heat City Literary Review: On the Road to Publication.
New publication, The Heat City Literary Review, projected a slow word-of-mouth start for their magazine this week, but thanks to a little help from their friends, they have already garnered attention from talented artists.
(PRWEB) March 30, 2004 --"We've just started," states co-editor of the magazine, Maria McCarthy. "And we really didn't expect much for the first few months. It hasn't even been a week and already we've received submissions from writers and photographers whom we have admired for a long, long time. And we are just here with our mouths agape counting our blessings."
However, according to them, this was not their intention. "We really want this magazine to be a showcase for new, young talent, as well. We'd like to publish them next to the people we've all looked up to." She adds, "That was mine and Tim (Gager's) intention from the start. We just can't understand why certain writers aren't more well-known."
Well, thanks to the popularity of co-editor Timothy Gager, in certain literary circles & friends like Doug Holder of The Ibbetson Street Press, it seems they will have no trouble with continuing to attract the well-known talent they were hoping to attract. "Having a magazine of this magnitude allows me to branch away from my own writing and subject matter. It's very refreshing," Gager says.
So where will they go from here? McCarthy's optimistic. "Well, right now we are just going to take it one day at a time; try to keep our fingers on the pulse of what's out there; stay open-minded. We're already attempting to find a place to print future issues of the magazine. We plan to be around for a long time. We're digging our trenches now."
