Jeff GoldsteinÂs newly formed company Joey Vegas Productions has produced his screenplay as its first venture. This tragic but poignant story centers on the mother, wife, sister, and brother of a man dying of cancer. Based partly on true events from the passing of GoldsteinÂs younger brother in 2001, this story has become a huge source of support for others. ÂI needed closureÂ, said Goldstein Âas well as shouting to the world how did my mother do it? This is the second time GoldsteinÂs mother has buried a son, the first in 1973 from Leukemia, as a single parent. ÂI always wondered how my mother never turned to drugs or liquor. Goldstein reports. ÂThis film is meant to pay tribute to Mothers who have lost a child, and to inspire othersÂ. ÂIÂm moved that my son wants to help others in similar situations says Arlene VanAmburgh.
Jeff Goldstein left his Marketing position at SYSCO Frosted Foods (Albany NY) at the age of 40 to purse his dream of professional acting. Since 1996 when he began his quest, he is now a member of 3 Performing Arts Unions, and recently completed the film ÂDeath by CommitteeÂ, where he stars opposite Tovah Feldshuh (ÂGoldaÂs Balcony currently on Broadway).
Two time Emmy winner Stephanie Braxton (Hill Street Blues, The Jeffersons, The Secret Storm) will portray the mother. Jeff Goldstein will play the brother, with Sara Brians (Radio City Rockette, 42nd St.) as the sister and Stefanie Black (Williamstown Theatre Festival) as the wife. Directors are Lertsiri Boonmee and Jeff Goldstein; Editor is Christopher Boldon and Simon Barber of Liverpool, England will compose original music, and performs the title song.
