CESSNAS REAL MILESTONE "Cessna Warbirds" Details 12,000 Military Cessna Aircraft

Cessna Aircrafts recent announcement of the seven-year annniversary of renewed single-engine piston airplane production failed to recognize an even more significant milestone: 64 years of military aircraft production. "Cessna Warbirds" by Walt Shiel, acclaimed by aviation experts and press, remains the only single source for the complete history of military Cessnas -- 12,000 aircraft and over a dozen different models from single-engine piston trainers to twin-engine attack jets.

Peaster, TX (PRWEB) March 30, 2004 ---Cessna Aircraft Co. recently announced the seven-year annniversary of renewed single-engine piston airplane production and delivery of their 5,000th piston airplane since 1994. Cessna really should be celebrating 64 years of military aircraft production and delivery of over 12,000 aircraft to armed forces worldwide. And there is only one source for the complete history of military Cessnas -- "Cessna Warbirds" by Walt Shiel.

In 1940, the US War Department awarded Cessna an $800,000 contract for 33 AT-8 twin-engine military trainers. The "Cessna Warbirds" story starts there, with almost 5400 Cessnas delivered during World War II, but does not end there. Cessna military production continued during the:
- Post-war era (LC-126 military transport based on Cessnas C-195)
- Korean War (over 2000 L-19 Bird Dogs)
- Cold War period (U-3 Blue Canoe," T-37 twin-jet trainer, and YH-41 helicopter)
- Vietnam War (more Bird Dogs, O-2 forward air control aircraft, A-37 attack jet, U-17 utility transport, and T-41 basic trainer)
- Post-Vietnam era (T-47 navigation trainer and OT-47 drug interdiction aircraft)

"Cessna Warbirds" has been acclaimed by airpower experts and the aviation press: "a true military aviation enthusiast's delight" (US Air Force Airpower Journal); "comprehensive, fact-filled and readable" (General Aviation News and Flyer); "Your book is going on the reference shelf for sure!" (US Air Force Museum); "fills a void in aviation literature" (Pima Air & Space Museum curator); "the definitive work on Cessna's military aeroplanes" (Flightpath magazine).

Shiel provides thorough coverage of all military Cessna aircraft with complete production histories, design details, performance specifications, dozens of true "war stories" (from peace and war, both serious and humorous), and over 400 photographs. Shiel logged more than half of his 3600 military flying hours in Cessna aircraft, so he is a bonafide expert!

"Cessna Warbirds" may be purchased on Amazon.com or direct from the publisher toll-free at (877) 388-5227 or online at www.CessnaWarbirds.com.
