Mahogany Magazine: A New Urban Quarterly for Women of Color
Launching June 2004, Mahogany Magazine addresses the unique needs of female urban market.
(PRWEB) April 2, 2004 -- Who is the Mahogany reader? She is bold and brash, sensitive and soft, tough but fair, selfish and giving, she walks to the beat of her own drum. She wonders what the meaning of life is along the same line as are we alone in the universe"; she embraces bad boy rappers and rocks Linkin Park, she can croon with Smokey while pretending to know the French lyrics of Les Nubians; work a 9-5 job while cultivating a 5-9 career; she cares about family, friends and others but comfortable with the label selfish bitch every now and again. Creative, unconventional, wild child, and on and on -- she is serious but not really.
"This publication is so different the mainstream urban market magazines available on newsstands," says Publisher Susan Harris. "It is essentially a 'zine with magazine tendencies. Mahogany Magazine acknowledges the diverse tastes and lifestyles of urban women of color who dont necessarily fit into the mainstream mold portrayed by other publications."
Mahogany Magazine will debut in readers mailboxes June 2004 -- the first issue is offered free.
