During a February 20, 2003 performance by the band Great White at The Station in West Warwick, Rhode Island, pyrotechnics were used, which resulted in a tragic fire claiming the lives of many patrons, as well as a member of the band.

To date, at least $1.7 million dollars in fines, as well as 200 charges of involuntary manslaughter have been levied against the club owners, as well as the company representing the band. Unlike fire retardant soundproofing foam, AMI distributes a unique soundproofing foam is positively no burn or drip.

“As soon as we learned of the soundproofing foam link to last year’s tragic fire, we began looking into soundproofing foams that would not burn,” said Mike Staggs, marketing manager of American Micro Industries, Inc. “We’ve decided to offer this product for global distribution to limit the liability of club owners, but most importantly, to prevent the loss of more lives. Although all of our foams have safe fire ratings, we want to supply a product that would not burn under any circumstances and feel as though only global distribution would enable us to possibly prevent a similar tragedy from occurring,” he added.
