Youve sent the press release. Now you wait and wait and wait and wait. Stop waiting! You just might be able to revive your press release. Heres how.

(PRWEB) April 3, 2004 -- Youve sent the press release. Now you wait and wait and wait and wait. Stop waiting! You just might be able to revive your press release. Heres how.

1.   Follow up. Your job does not end when you send a press release. When you send a press release, you must do follow-up. Editors and reporters are busy people. You cant rely on them to respond to you. You must call them in a timely manner. This does not mean call the next day. Give it a week unless the press release is time-sensitive. Maybe the press release did not provide enough information. Maybe the writing was bad. Maybe the editor never saw your release. It happens. Youll never know unless you follow up.

2.   Check your contact. New hires, promotions and unexpected resignations are routine for publishers and journalists. Check your contact information. Maybe Sue replaced John as editor. Maybe the publication merged with another publication. It is imperative that you find out. Dont count on reporters passing a story along to correct editor. Press release concierge is not in a reporters job description.

3.   Find a New Angle. Review your press release. Be objective and truthful to yourself. Was the press release really sent to the proper media? You cant send a press release about spoons to a publication dedicated to knives. Likewise, you cant send a story specific to Jacksonville, FL to Atlanta, GA and expect it to be taken seriously. Take a moment to smell the angle.

4.   Rewrite it then resend it. Youve found the problem with your press release. Now, fix it. Rewrite it if necessary. If there is no angle, give it one. Fix grammar and spelling issues. Check your contact. Resend the press release. Be sure to follow-up.
