GD&T Expert Alex Krulikowski to Speak at ADDA Annual Technical Conference

Alex Krulikowski, acknowledged industry expert on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) will present an overview of the new ASME Y14.41 Standard on Tolerancing of Solid Models at the ADDA 45th Annual Technical Conference, May 4, 2004 in Huntsville, Alabama.

WESTLAND, MI (PRWEB) April 3, 2004 --Alex Krulikowski, acknowledged industry expert on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) will speak at the ADDA 45th Annual Technical Conference, May 4, 2004 in Huntsville, Alabama. The conference objective is to develop a strategy to link analytical software under a common platform for the design and analysis of rotating machinery. One of the issues to be addressed is standardizing input / output files to facilitate more efficient linking of software.

Krulikowski will present an overview of the new ASME Y14.41 Standard on Tolerancing of Solid Models, which establishes requirements for preparing, organizing and interpreting 3-D digital product images. The standard also provides a guide for CAD software developers working on improved modeling and annotation practices for the engineering community. ASME Y14.41 sets forth the requirements for tolerances, dimensional data and other annotations.

This standard is unique because it covers the same information in both the 2-D and the 3-D world," said Krulikowski, Chairman of the ASME Y14.41 Committee on Solid Model Tolerancing. The same set of standards are applicable to both 2-D and 3-D modeling."

ASME Y14.41 advances the capabilities of Y14.5, Dimensioning and Tolerancing, the widely used standard pertaining to 2-D engineering drawings. Y14.41 defines the exceptions as well as additional requirements to existing ASME standards for using product definition data or drawings in 3-D digital format.

Krulikowski established a digital tolerancing forum to discuss issues related to tolerancing of solid models. The forum shares information on the capabilities, technical and implementation issues, and uses of digital tolerance information. More information about joining the forum can be found at: http://www.etinews.com/dig-tol-forum

Krulikowski is the founder and president of Effective Training Inc. (ETI), a world leader in the field of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. He is a GD&T expert with a degree in industrial vocational education and over 30 years of industry experience. ETI provides on-site workshops that teach GD&T fundamentals and advanced concepts; tolerance stacks; ISO/ASME; a GD&T overview; and an ANSI Y14.5M - 1982 to ASME Y14.5M - 1994 Standard update.
