American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine Is Going to Boston!! By Rita Yates, Executive Director, AAPSM
AAPSM To meet in Boston, MA August 22-25, 2004
(PRWEB) April 4, 2004 --Under the careful direction of 2004 Annual Meeting Chairman, Patrick Nunan, DPM, the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine will once again be showcased during the APMA Annual Meeting in Boston August 22-25. This meeting will be held at the beautiful Boston Marriott Copley Place in downtown Boston.
Beginning on Sunday, August 22, the AAPSM will hold its annual membership meeting beginning at 4:30 p.m. Immediately following the membership meeting, the AAPSM will host a Presidents Reception honoring incoming President, Douglas Richie, DPM. Monday, August 23, 2004, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. the AAPSM will hold its annual members only" awards luncheon. This year the AAPSM hopes to present two distinguished awards to those members of our profession who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. This luncheon will be open to AAPSM members only, however tickets will be available for non-AAPSM members at a cost of $30 each.
On Monday afternoon, August 23 from 4 to 6 p.m., join the AAPSM for Sports Medicine Workshops. From 4:00 -- 4:40 p.m. Dr.s Mary Moore (Ireland), Bruce Williams and Timothy Dutra will present a workshop on Orthotics -- Quips, Tips and Pearls. From 4:40 -- 5:20 p.m. join Dr,s Richard Bouche, Stephen Pribut and Douglas Richie for Athletic Shoes and Socks: What is New and Innovative? To conclude the informative workshops please plan to attend On Field Assessment of the Injured Athlete presented by Dr.s James Losito, Matthew Werd and Timothy Dutra. This workshop will run from 5:20 -- 6:00 p.m.
The AAPSM Scientific Track will take place on Tuesday, August 24 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. Beginning at 1:00 p.m. Matthew Werd, DPM will present Achilles Tendon Injuries in Sports. Jeffrey Ross, DPM presenting a lecture on Viscosupplementation: Use In the Ankle and First Metatarsophalangeal Joint will follow this at 1:30 p.m. Tibal Stress Syndrome by Richard Bouche, DPM will follow from 2:30 -- 2:45 p.m. From 2:45 -- 3:30 p.m. Douglas Richie, DPM will give attendees advice on When Can I Return to Sports? Monitoring Recovery After Traumatic Ankle Injury. There will be a break from 3:30 -- 4:00 p.m. to visit exhibits. The AAPSM will begin lectures again at 4:00 p.m. with James Losito, DPM speaking on Exercise Induced Leg Pain. From 4:30 -- 5:00 p.m., AAPSM Special Guest Podiatrist Mary Moore from Dublin, Ireland will present Results from the Special Olympics 2003 World Summer Games in Ireland. From 5:00 -- 5:30 p.m. Richard Bouche, DPM will speak on Post First Metatarsophalangeal Joint Fusion -- Does the Foot Function? The AAPSM Sports Medicine Track will conclude with Dr. Bouche, speaking on Chronic Compartment Syndrome of the Foot.
Please note that the APMA low registration fee includes all AAPSM functions (with the exception of the awards luncheon - if not an AAPSM member).
