New Book Details How To Choose a Babys Gender With the Latest Technology

The new book "Chasing the Gender Dream" is a personal guide to high-tech sex selection for couples who are interested in conceiving either a baby boy or a baby girl.

Imperial Beach, CA (PRWEB) April 4, 2004 --A new book relates how to make use of high-tech gender selection methods that today can help a couple conceive a baby boy or a baby girl. "Chasing the Gender Dream" is a personal guide to what is involved in sex selection technology, including the increasingly popular MicroSort® method.

With the help of modern strides in reproductive technology, couples can now preselect the gender of their future baby. This newly published book tells how. MicroSort and other sex selection technologies have been the subject of a variety of media stories lately, but this is the first published account of what its like to undergo MicroSort and all that it entails. Couples can gain firsthand knowledge from "Chasing the Gender Dream: The Complete Guide to Conceiving Pink or Blue With the Latest Sex Selection Technology and Tips From Someone Who Has Been There."

The book, published in March 2004 by Aventine Press, is a detailed guide to gender selection of a child--written by former newspaper journalist Jennifer Merrill Thompson, a mother of two boys who wanted to increase her chance of conceiving a daughter for her third child. She exhaustively researched all the methods for conceiving a baby girl, she tried a few and she ultimately succeeded in bringing home a daughter. The book also relates others experiences with sex selection and provides the latest news about available laboratory technologies for family balancing."

MicroSort involves separating (or sorting") a mans sperm sample into boy-producing and girl-producing sperm and then using the selected gender sample to impregnate the woman. "Chasing the Gender Dream" discusses the use of artificial insemination, in-vitro fertilization and injectible fertility medications--sharing what its like to undergo fertility treatments for sex selection. It also reviews the more controversial method of preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), which can select embryos by gender after sperm-egg conception. PGD is just beginning to be used as a sex selection method, after being used for more than a decade for detecting genetic disorders.

The book also discusses the common home methods that people have tried for decades to conceive pink" or blue"--such as timing conception according to a womans ovulatory cycle (a method popularized by the late Dr. Landrum Shettles); changing the pH levels of a womans reproductive environment; or going on a preconception gender diet." You name it, people have tried it.

Thompson, a freelance writer-editor living in Northern Virginia, researched sex selection in the late 1990s, participating in online gender determination" message boards and learning what methods were working for influencing the sex of ones baby. She learned that high-tech methods were the most successful, and living near the headquarters of MicroSort, she and her husband soon took advantage of this center for sperm sorting technology. After several attempts with MicroSort, they finally welcomed their daughter in 2002. Since then, Thompson has been writing about her experiences to let others know that they, too, can chase their gender dream." She has been contacted by women from all over the world interested in this topic.

I couldnt put the book down," comments one prospective MicroSort parent who plans to make her attempt for a baby girl. It really helped me learn what is involved."

MicroSort® is currently in FDA clinical trials, but the technology is expected to be approved within a couple of years and then become a licensed method for gender selection to be practiced in fertility clinics worldwide. Someday, this practice may become a more common occurrence.

As the demand for sex selection increases along with the available options, "Chasing the Gender Dream" is a book to guide couples along this complicated path if they so desire to conceive either a baby boy or a baby girl for their family.
